With The Grain
If you know woodworking, then you know that going with the grain is the best way to cut wood! If you go against the grain it creates something we call “tear-out” that looks horrible and is a pain to fix. Many times, depending on the sharpness of the blade, the tear-out will vary in size. Even though this happens you can fix it a majority of the times. With veneer panels it is really hard to fix but with hardwood, it is pretty forgiving. To avoid this mistake it takes time in understanding the flow of the wood; which way the grain is going. You have to be patient with the process of building and understanding how to best use the wood you have. If you choose to lack the patience in furniture building you will never be fully satisfied and will always desire to be the best you can, but never find fulfillment in it. It takes being purposeful and consistent with it.
In life, it’s the same way. God gave us this life and His way of life is with the grain. When you go against the grain you are faced with hardships and having to constantly fix mistakes you never learned from. You are not patient and have no desire to understand this life we are given. You get a bunch of “tear-out” in life and it creates more and more problems. The way to avoid these to follow God and His will for your life! We have this one life to live and a lot of choices to make. If you choose to focus on making wrong decisions willingly you will live a life of heartache and stress. If you choose to go with the grain of life, you will feel more at peace in life and full of joy! Live your life with purpose to serve God to the fullest!
